Meet Sal Aguilar

Within the first week of working  at SPA as an intern, Steve says something like, “Sal says he can draft, well let’s see about that.” Then Steve hands me sketches for the Inn at Roses Landing. I remember drafting the first layout for the hotel rooms and continued working on that project. This project also allowed me to show that I had rendering skills as the City of Morro Bay needed view studies. Now seeing the project built feels very rewarding.

Working at this firm has given me the opportunity to expand and build upon my skills. Since I began as an intern, I learned the internal structure, language, and all administration related tasks within a firm while also given the chance to work on real projects. To this day I can say I have the proficiency to tackle a project from start to finish, from schematic design to submittal documents. One of the main qualities because I enjoy working in our firm is the family like atmosphere and how everyone is open to new ideas while still having fun.

A big and exciting project I was able to work on is the Rugged Radios commercial buildings. The city needed a big rendering to see how the finished project would look when finished. I delivered a rendering with an evening glow and classic vehicles to match the aesthetics/vibe of the building. The project is nearing the end of construction and I can’t wait to go see the final product.
